Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil aimed a subtle jibe at North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs, claiming he would only join them if he does not want to win trophies.
The German international has been at Arsenal since 2013, helping the club to win four FA Cups during his time in North London.
In the last couple of years, the 31-year-old has been on the fringes of the Arsenal and has had a divided fan base at the club due to poor form and a string of injuries that have hampered his progress.
However, it is fair to say the star player has won back the hearts of Arsenal faithful after a savage rebuttal against Tottenham Hotspurs.
When asked if he would rather move to Tottenham or retire, Ozil responded: “If I don’t want to win a cup, I should go there”.

Spurs last won a trophy in 2008 when Juande Ramos guided the Lilywhites to victory in the League Cup.
The North London side came close to winning the League Cup and Champions League under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, but they could only finish as runners-up in the competitions in 2014/15 and 2018/19 respectively.
