Spanish international, Dani Ceballos will stay another year at Arsenal according to sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano.
The 24-year-old spent the entire 2019/2020 season at the Emirates Stadium and helped Mikel Arteta’s side claim their 14th FA Cup trophy.
He ended the season on a high after struggling in the initial stages of the campaign and was arguably the most consistent performer during the final weeks of the season.
Arteta has been vocal about his desire to see the player return and stated earlier this week that Ceballos wants the same.
“He told me pretty clearly that his intention was to stay at Arsenal but obviously we have to consider that Real Madrid are involved as well and I still don’t know their plan here,” said Arteta.
“We’re obviously interested in a player like him because, as we saw during the last few months of the season, he can give us a lot,” he added.
Ceballos posted videos of himself on social media watching and celebrating the victory against Liverpool, fuelling speculation that he was pushing for a return to Emirates Stadium.
In Madrid that is far from guaranteed, with Zinedine Zidane having rarely used him during his two stints as head coach at the Bernabeu.
The Spaniard made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring twice – including the winner in the FA Cup quarter-final against Sheffield United.
