A disappointing 2019/20 Premier League season for Arsenal has finished on a high note.

A disappointing 2019/20 Premier League season for Arsenal has finished on a high note.

The Gunners overcame Watford 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to first-half goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (x2) and Kieran Tierney’s first goal for the club.

Having gone into the final game of the campaign, sitting in 10th place, qualifying for the Europa League through their final position in the Premier League table had already been ruled out.

As was finishing above north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Gunners had an extra incentive to finish as high as possible after it was reported by Swiss Ramble that the impact of every position this year will be around £2.7 million.

Luckily for Arsenal results in the Sheffield United and Burnley games went their way on the final day which is great news for Arteta.

As a result of finishing eighth, it will provide Arteta with an extra £5.4 million to potentially spend on transfers ahead of the summer window officially opening on Monday.

Had Mikel Arteta’s side finished 10th, they would have earned around £13.3 million less.

Whilst it’s not a massive transfer windfall, it could be key to getting at least one deal over the line.

Thomas Partey is just one of several names being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and according to journalist David Vinuesa Malbac Atletico Madrid, have made a decision that they will only sell if the midfielder’s release clause of around £45 million is met.

So the extra £5.4m could be seen as a welcome boost for the Gunners.

With that said, Arsenal still has another chance to earn some more money by qualifying for the Europa League in 2020/21.

In order to that, they must avenge the 4-1 loss in last season’s final in Baku when they face London rivals, Chelsea, in next weekend’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
