What was a statement signing by Arsene Wenger now seems like a witch-hunt by Unai Emery.
Today marks the 31st birthday of German international, Mesut Ozil who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.
The ‘magician’ with his wand has over the years cast spells on defenders leaving them spell-bound, with a chunk of assists and goals to his credit.
The now 31-year-old following his transfer to the Gunners, said:
“I am thrilled to be joining a club of the stature of Arsenal,” Ozil said. “It will be great for my personal development and I am particularly looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger. It is clear that the club has huge ambition.”
Six years on, and a lot of criticism stemming from his performances and contributions to the team, Ozil has often been sidelined by Unai Emery.

Although the relationship between Unai Emery does not look romantic, the left-footed magician has contributed his quota to the success story of Arsenal over the years.
He has won three FA Cup trophies and one Community Shield with the team.
