Alex Iwobi featured in Nigeria’s quarter finals game against South Africa on Wednesday night.
The midfielder was key as the Super Eagles brushed aside Bafana Bafana in a 2-1 victory to earn a place in the semifinals in the 2019 AFCON tournament.
The game had a rugged start as both sides hardly settled in the first half.
In the run of play, Iwobi saw his pass deflected before Samuel Chukwueze hit it past the South African goalkeeper.
South Africa got an equalizer thanks to a controversial goal which was accepted by VAR.
Zungu headed the ball following a cross which lobbed over Daniel Akpeyi.
The winner came late in the game as Troost-Ekong latched on a cross to send flying the Super Eagles into the semifinals of the competition.
After a good game, Iwobi was substituted in the 89th minute.
The West Africans will next play on Sunday against the winner of the game between Algeria and Ivory Coast.
