Arsenal have made an enquiry for 22-year-old Genoa shot stopper, Andrei Radu, according to the player’s agent.
Arsenal will be on the lookout for a backup goalkeeper for Bernd Leno after Petr Cech his retirement from professional football.
Although the Gunners may recall Emiliano Martinez from Reading, it is unlikely that will be done as he has been sent out on loan on too many occasions.
Ospina on the other hand wants a move away from the club as he wants to be first choice keeper and not deputy to anyone. Thus pushing a move to Napoli.
With a summer budget of only £45million, Radu with his complex situation with Inter Milan could come in well within Arsenal’s summer budget.
The Romanian’s agent, Crescenzo Cesere has revealed several clubs have probed into the players situation and looks at giving him an escape route.
The agent doesn’t rule out Inter and Genoa reaching an agreement but interest from other clubs like Arsenal makes the young goalkeepers future a great prospect.
“The player is from Genoa and has a contract with I Rossoblu for another two years,” Cecere began. “Inter has a right to recall, but if they want to exercise it, it will depend only on them, and we’ll listen to them.
“There are so many teams involved, including Lyon. Recently, there was also an Arsenal enquiry. It is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot, from all points of view.”
Radu made 33 appearances in Serie A this season and kept six clean sheets. Genoa have had a very bad campaign as a team, avoiding relegation on goal difference, so it would unfair to pick out Radu and judge on that number.
