Arsenal is set to complete the signing of Sheffield United goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale.
Just a few days ago, it was reported that Arsenal was set to make a third or fourth (it’s hard to keep track) bid for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, but wasn’t expected to meet the Blades’ asking price of £30m.
Mat Ryan explained recently that the reason he did not return to Arsenal after his loan was because they were seeking to sign a home-grown keeper and their relentless chase of Ramsdale would seem to bear that out.
Football.London reports that, although Sheffield United want £30m for Ramsdale, Arsenal are expected to pay around £24m with add-ons making up the difference.
Ramsdale was left out of Sheffield United’s squad for their recent EFL Cup game against Carlisle. Manager Slavisa Jovanović said it wasn’t anything to do with an impending transfer before adding he needed to check out other options in case ‘something happens.
“There is nothing in his absence, no, nothing,” Jovanović said.
“I just needed to give some players a chance and others a rest.”
“Aaron is my first choice, that I can definitely say. But I need to see what other people can do in case something happens. What other options we have and what other choices are here.”
