Arsenal’s horrific season summed up by Sky Sports

Arsenal’s incredibly poor start to the season has been summed up by Sky Sports’ ‘personal vendetta’ when it comes to matching statistics.

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Everton on Saturday night, and it means they’ll spend Christmas in the Premier League bottom six.

But surely there’s something positive for manager Mikel Arteta to build on? Going off Sky Sports’ coverage of Arsenal games, there is not.

Some statistics have shown this season include summer signing Willian having one shot on target all campaign, as well as individual Wolves players dribbling more than the whole Arsenal team.

Granit Xhaka’s red card against Burnley last weekend saw Sky Sports point out his terrible discipline record since arriving in England.

While their lack of attacking threat was highlighted by being 20th when it comes to goals and shooting accuracy since October.

Everton took the lead in the first half after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header went in off captain Rob Holding.

Arsenal was given a route back into the game via a Nicolas Pepe penalty, with the Ivorian coolly dispatching.

They were the only level for ten minutes however as Yerry Mina restored the Toffees’ lead on the stroke of half time.

The away side poured men forward in the second half but rarely threatened with their best chance coming from David Luiz.

It means the north London outfit have 14 points from 14 games and when asked about that, Arteta said: “Well, the season highlights at the moment the situation we are in the Premier League.

“We’ve done really well in Europe, really good in the cups, and we are struggling to get results in the Premier League.

“Again, when we analyse every game, the reasons why we are losing football matches, compared to other teams winning them, the margins are small.

“But we need those margins very quickly before the situation gets impossible to handle.”

Pressure continues to build on the Spaniard and many fans are unsure on how he turns the club’s form around.
