The 2019 Women’s FIFA World Cup just concluded in France and the ladies from the United States of America were crowned s champions.
It was heartbreak for Vivianne Mediema, Jill Rood, and Danielle van de Donk as they were defeated in the final against the U.S.A.
Megan Rapinoe got the first goal courtesy a penalty kick before Rose Lavelle rocketed one pass the Dutch goalkeeper.
After winning the FA Women’s Soccer League, nine of the champions were selected to represent their countries.
Where nine ladies cut across five different countries in the Women’s FIFA World Cup with the ladies from Holland having the more representation.
But in general, how did the ladies from Arsenal perform in the just ended World Cup?
Here is a look at their performances and their ratings in the tournament:
- Pauline Peyraud-Magnin- France: The goalkeeper’s run in the World Cup ended after the eventual tournament winners, U.S.A knocked them out in the quarter finals stage. The 27-year-old did not feature in any of the games for France as Bouhaddi, the first choice goalkeeper played every single match.

- Beth Mead- England: The midfielder featured in five games for the England Women’s Football Team who finished fourth in the World Cup. Although he didn’t score a goal in the tournament, she was impressive as he wore the 22 jersey. The 24-year-old was pivotal to Gareth Southgate’s quest to glory but only ended the tournament with no medal to their names.

- Leah Williamson- England: The Arsenal Ladies midfield and centre-back player featured only once in the tournament. Coming on in the second half as the English ladies beat Cameroon. The 22-year-old although didn’t feature more but is definitely an assert going forward for the team and will fancy participating in more tournaments for the team.

- Lisa Evans- Scotland: The winger featured in every game for the Scottish team as they exited the tournament early. The pacey midfielder did not score a goal in the tournament to as well as she saw her country rack up only a draw.

- Kim Little: The attacking midfielder played every game just like her teammate, Lisa in the group stages of the World Cup. Unlike her compatriot, she scored against Argentina in a thrilling 3-3 game. The 29-year-old was the engine of the team although had an early shower in the tournament.

- Leonie Maier- Germany: The new Arsenal signing featured just once for the German ladies. She was a second half substitute as Sweden beat them in the quarter finals to deny them a spot in the semifinals.

- Danielle van de Donk: The number 10 shirted lady has been inspiring for the Dutch ladies as they finished runners up to the U.S.A. Although she did not get a goal, she played every single game as the Netherlands finished second. Her brilliant runs follows an impressive season with Arsenal Ladies FC who were crowned as FAWSL champions.

- Jill Roord: The 22-year-old joined Arsenal Ladies from Bayern Munich in May and then left to join her teammates for the World Cup. The midfielder was not a starter but always came off from the bench in every game of the tournament. She scored a 90th minute winner against Australia to hand the Netherlands their first win the tournament.

- Vivianne Mediema: The prolific striker broke and set a national record as the leading top scorer for the Netherland Women’s Football team. The goal machine has now scored 61 goals for the Dutch as she hit the back of the net thrice in the FIFA World Cup in France.
